APS - Amorphous III Conference
Multi-component amorphous materials, formulation, processing and stability
Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd of April 2010
Nottingham University, Jubilee Campus, Nottingham

 Fully Residential Conference

Use of amorphous materials have attracted a lot of interest in the recent years as an approach for improving dissolution rates and ultimately bioavailability of poorly soluble materials. However, due to their inherent instability, their use has been limited and they are frequently formulated with excipients, e.g. polymeric species, in an attempt to improve their physical properties. Manufacture of these materials utilise processes that are commonplace in other industries, e.g. spray drying and melt extrusion, but have limited exposure in the pharmaceuticals industry.

This meeting will provide an understanding in the area of interactions in the amorphous phase, identify suitable processes that can be used to formulate these materials into dosage units and how performance and stability of these systems can be assessed. A number of presentations from experts in this area will be available as well as case studies and industrial “know-how” being presented. An exhibition will permit access to vendors providing skills and equipment key to the understanding of these systems and there is also an opportunity for posters to be presented with selected authors being asked to provide podium presentations.

This meeting will be key attendance for pharmaceutical scientists in both academia and industry. It also offers opportunities for learning for colleagues in other formulation sciences and food industries.
