|
Atlanta, Georgia, USA |
|
|
This meeting is the
first international symposium solely dedicated to microneedle research
covering topics including microneedle fabrication, formulation,
applications, and pre-clinical and clinical exemplification of microneedle
technologies. The meeting will provide a stimulating forum for research
exchange, discussion and networking through presentation of leading research
by Keynote and Invited Speakers, an Industry Session focusing on
commercially focused microneedle technologies and a short course on
techniques for microneedle fabrication, formulation and biological
assessment.

Networking opportunities include dedicated time for poster presentations and
a conference banquet. The conference fee structure hopes to encourage both
established and young scientists to attend this exciting event, which is to
be held in a new campus conference facility in the heart of Atlanta.
Opportunities for delegates and accompanying persons to enjoy Atlanta in the
spring will also be provided.
The success of this meeting will depend upon the input and enthusiasm of
delegates, and we invite all of those interested in this research area to
contribute through registration and abstract submission. We look forward to
welcoming you to Atlanta in May 2010.
Sincerely, Mark Prausnitz & James Birchall

Atlanta
is the capital of Georgia and is the central metropolis of the
Southeastern United States. In recent years, Atlanta has undergone
a transition from a city of regional commerce to a city of international
influence, and has been among the fastest growing cities throughout much
of the 1990s and 2000s.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest
airport, is situated 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta and provides air
service between Atlanta and many national and international destinations,
many of which are direct flights on Delta. The MARTA rail
system has a station within the airport terminal and provides direct
service to Downtown and Midtown. For this reason, guests will not
need a car to get from the airport to the meeting location, which will
keep costs down, especially for student attendees. For those who
wish to rent a car, several rental companies are located on-site at the
airport and I-85 will take visitors directly into downtown/midtown.
Atlanta has more than 30 institutions of higher education, including the
Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University and Morehouse School of
Medicine. Atlanta also features the world's largest aquarium, the
Georgia Aquarium, which officially opened to the public on November 23,
2005.
As part of the Southeast region, the four
seasons of the year are discernible yet never extreme. Snow is extremely
rare as are 100-degree summer days.â?¨
