Future directions for pharmacy education

Wednesday 24th March 2010
University of Reading
Pharmacy as a profession is currently undergoing a period of unprecedented change, and pharmacy education needs to reflect this. Legislative and other initiatives will have an impact on how and what we teach students, and even more radically, how we assess competencies required to produce the successful pharmacists of the future. This meeting is intended to bring together policymakers and academics to discuss how best the necessary changes can be introduced, and to exchange ideas of best practice. The meeting is designed to apprise delegates of the following:

• Developments within Medical Education England and their implications for pharmacy
• The requirements for assessing competence within the new integrated clinical degree
• The roles of the GPhC and what they mean for degree regulation
• The need to integrate science with practice and how this may be achieved
