APS Annual "Black Tie" Dinner
September 8th 2009
Manchester Town Hall, Manchester

The Annual Academy dinner will be held on Tuesday 8th September 2009 in Manchester Town Hall, a cash bar will be available from 7.30 pm followed by Dinner at 8.00 pm.

Over the last 10 years The Academy has held one of the social highlights of the British Pharmaceutical Conference in its “Black Tie” Dinner. This has been free to all members relying on the generous support of sponsors for funding.

The Board has carried out a review of the dinner and noted the following:

  • Approx 10% of those who register for the dinner do not turn up on the night (18 people in 2008). As a consequence last year £450 was wasted as the Academy had to pay for most of that cost.

  • In the current economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult to attract sponsorship.

In order for the Dinner to continue it has been agreed to introduce a nominal “non refundable” booking fee of £10 for all categories of membership.  In addition each year there are requests from non-members or guests to attend the dinner.  It has been agreed to allow non-members and guests to attend the dinner for a fee of £50.

The above action will limit the financial liability to the Academy and ensure that the dinner remains viable and one of the leading social highlights of the BPC.

We are limited to a maximum of 120 dinners so early registration is recommended.
